T.E.C. Erfurt – A sporty new beginning

The T.E.C. is being further developed conceptually to offer our customers a contemporary shopping experience with a high quality of stay. Strategically repositioned, underscored by an appealing architectural concept that optimally harmonizes the needs of customers and tenants, an attractive shopping experience will be created in the Erfurt catchment area. The modernization is to be completed by mid-2020.

In October 2013, Praktiker Baumarkt in the T.E.C. Erfurt ceased operations. The owners of the retail park were faced with the challenge of eliminating the vacancy of a total of around 8,700 m2 as quickly as possible. In addition, alternative uses for the space had to be found by revitalising the area.

The owners of the retail park, METRO PROPERTIES and Glinicke GmbH, seized the opportunity for a comprehensive repositioning of the T.E.C. in Thuringia. Together with MEC METRO-ECE Centermanagement GmbH & Co. KG, the owners' association developed a comprehensive revitalization concept for the location. The implementation of the new centre strategy and the modernisation of the entire retail park has been underway since mid-2019 with continuing operation.
