Future of Real store in Bannewitz secured

Real estate purchase results in store's long-term security and lasting modernisation Bannewitz

Real is expanding its real estate portfolio together with METRO PROPERTIES. METRO PROPERTIES acquired the 'An der Zschauke' Real hypermarket in Bannewitz from the previous owner as part of an asset deal. The property purchase results in long-term strategic security for the Real store. "We will now benefit from far greater freedom in how we develop this successful store," explains Real CEO Henning Gieseke. "The purchase sends out a strong message to the 100 employees that there are long-term plans for the store in Bannewitz and that, ideally, new jobs will be created as well. And for the customers too, it represents the securing and upgrading of their familiar shopping location," says Christfried Knöbel, manager of the Real store in Bannewitz. "The purchase of this property represents another strategic investment that improves and logically complements our portfolio," says Wolfgang Baumgartinger, Director Transactions, METRO PROPERTIES. The Real store in Bannewitz opened its doors approximately 24 years ago, under the brand name allkauf SB-Warenhaus GmbH & Co. KG. The 'An der Zschauke' store has since become an integral part of Bannewitz. The store is important not only to the local customers – it also serves a large number of customers coming from the neighbouring Czech Republic. In addition to the store in Bannewitz, Real runs a second store in the Dresden metropolitan area, in Heidenau.
