Bremen Duckwitzstraße: Real-reopening after the first construction phase

The first round is finished: In early July, the reopening of the remodelled and modernised Real store at Bremen Duckwitzstraße took place. As part of the revitalisation, a new neighbourhood center will be created on the plot, which is situated between Bremen city center and the airport. The completion of the center is scheduled for spring 2016. The new Real store at Duckwitzstraße features a modern floor concept and design as well as an attractive presentation of goods. In order to make shopping at the sales line even more comfortable, the customers parking was renewed and now offers spacious spots for around 750 vehicles.

"With the renewed parking and the modernised store, we managed to increase the value of the store for Real and its customers. In the next step, we’ll continue to develop the further spaces and make Duckwitzstraße an even more attractive shopping address for the entire district", said Christian Mielke, Head of Corporate Asset Management, Region Germany at METRO PROPERTIES.

The reopening in early July is thus just a kick-off: While for Real, the remodelling during operations is finished, the works at the future mall are proceeding. The remaining floors of the formerly biggest Walmart in the world are supposed to turn into an attractive shopping street with numerous shops, gastronomic offers and further servides.

By spring 2016, the new neighbourhood centre offer a varied and attractive tenant mix on nearly 20.000 square metres. In this second construction phase, also the entrance area and the facades are being redesigned.

Together with Real, also the sales line Saturn will open a store in the new retail park, with further potential tenants, negotiations are ongoing. The opening of the retail park ist scheduled for spring 2016.
