Network meeting of the Düsseldorf Mobility Partnership at METRO PROPERTIES

This week, METRO PROPERTIES welcomed the participants of the network meeting of the Düsseldorf Mobility Partnership at the ONE METRO Campus. The aim of the network is to make mobility in the region sustainable and thus achieve positive environmental effects through reduced emissions. The members of the network are making an important contribution to improving air quality and promoting future-oriented mobility in the state capital of Düsseldorf.

Jochen Kral, Head of Mobility of the City of Düsseldorf, and Olaf Schulze, Vice President Energy Management of METRO PROPERTIES, welcomed around 40 participants to the network meeting. A tour of the ONE METRO Campus provided insights into the implementation of METRO's mobility strategy, which includes charging facilities for e-bikes and e-cars as well as a modern bicycle garage. In particular, the combination of infrastructure for alternative mobility and social awareness was the subject of a lively discussion, demonstrating METRO's commitment in this area.

Olaf Schulze presented the 'METRO Energy and Green Mobility Strategy' to the participants and emphasised: "We have been actively promoting alternative mobility for years. As early as 2010, we installed our first charging points at the Düsseldorf store - today there are 1,391 worldwide and the expansion continues. 35 percent of our company car fleet in Germany is already electric. Through our partnership with the city of Düsseldorf, we want to make an active contribution to making alternative mobility visible and tangible.”

In addition to METRO PROPERTIES, other mobility partners such as LimeBike and TierDott reported on the challenges and successes of using all-electric logistics fleets. The e-mobility consultants from Emobicon and Energiefahrer provided valuable information on how to apply for funding. Another highlight of the event: the network also welcomed its 100th member to the mobility partnership.

The Mobility Partnership is a joint initiative of the Chamber of Skilled Crafts, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the District Association of Skilled Crafts and the City of Düsseldorf. All companies in Düsseldorf can join the partnership. They agree to make their company's mobility more environmentally friendly. This will affect all areas of the company - from employees' journeys to work and business trips to the company's own vehicle fleet and delivery traffic.

The Mobility Partnership was initiated by the City of Düsseldorf and the Düsseldorf business community, represented by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Chamber of Crafts and the Düsseldorf District Association of Craftsmen.
